Mission Statement
"H4H is a volunteer run, non-profit, low overhead, non-denominational, grassroots, community based and fiscally transparent organization that provides health services, health promotion and prevention to vulnerable populations in developing countries."
Basic principles
All H4H projects must be designed using the following principles:
- Fit within the frameworks of the Determinants of Health and the Millennium Development Goals
- Incorporate gender equity
- Be locally identified
- Be capacity building
- Be potentially sustainable
Our Vision
- Organize multidisciplinary teams of volunteer healthcare professionals and support staff to travel to developing countries (at their own expense) to provide needed healthcare services.
- Collect by donation the funds, medical equipment and supplies to provide these services and arrange their transport to developing countries.
- Provide surgical services at hospitals in developing countries in collaboration with the local hospital staff.
- Provide funding and other support to our partner NGOs in the countries we visit.
- Empower the people and healthcare workers of the countries we visit to meet their own healthcare needs through education and training.
- Work in collaboration with the local Canadian Embassy Staff, Governmental, other non-governmental organizations and the local healthcare community to identify other healthcare projects for which Health for Humanity volunteers can provide assistance.
- Remain non-political.
- Interact with clients in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.

Partners
Health for Humanity works with local NGOs in Guatemala to support various other health care initiatives. These include:
- Vamos Adalante
- Proyecto Payaso
- Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro
- Campanero De Salud
Funding
Donations are used to pay for hospital costs, medical equipment, medications and operating room supplies related to the surgical missions. All volunteers pay for their own travel and accommodation. H4H also supports our partner organizations in Guatemala in providing health related programs and educational programs to vulnerable populations. Currently these include the provision of water filtration devices and efficient/safe wood burning stoves, food programs for malnourished children and scholarships to ensure children are able to attend and stay in school. These programs are carefully monitored by H4H board members.
Health for Humanity is volunteer run. We have no paid staff and minimal administrative costs.
